Pam Cherek’s Biography

Nature, travel and adventure have always been a part of my life. I was raised in the city but had the great fortune of spending weekends enjoying the lake at our family cabin. Summer camps helped me gain an appreciation for more active endeavors like backpacking and kayaking. In college, I spent 6 years working for the outdoor adventure program at the University of Nebraska. This is where I first started planning trips for groups. Eventually I landed a highly sought-after internship at Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Hawaii where I guided excursions for Naval personnel across the island of Oahu.

 

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, my first “real job” was with a national outdoor retailer. I built a team that converted a struggling little gear shop into a profitable hub for the local community. I also founded a hiking club that enabled thousands of locals to get off their couch and get active in nature. 

 

When it felt like my work there was done, I accepted a position as the Director of Adventure Travel at Backwoods Adventures, based in Austin, TX. There, I spent 4 years planning and guiding small group adventures across the globe. I gained valuable experience and solidified relationships with vendors around the world. This allowed me to fulfill my ultimate dream and start my own business in 2018. 

 

Wander Beyond Travel is the result of a lifelong love of travel and adventure combined with a formal business education and years of relevant experience in the industry. We have partnerships with hundreds of travel suppliers so we can design bespoke trips with exclusive benefits for our clients. We provide guidance and support that you simply cannot get by booking directly with a tour company, cruise line, or online booking platform.
